Imagine arriving in China with one serious question about your business. Five days later, you have spoken with the right people, seen how products reach customers, and shared a meal that made the city feel less like a market on a slide and more like a place you understand. That is the promise of a well-planned business-and-travel trip: a clearer decision, and a journey you will remember.

This five-day Guangzhou and Shenzhen itinerary is for international founders, buyers, executives and curious teams who want useful conversations and a memorable China journey. Our local team can coordinate introductions and working visits with suitable Chinese companies, shape the meeting agenda, and connect those appointments with food, neighborhoods and time to think. We match potential hosts to your sector and purpose; a specific company, production area or executive meeting is included only after its host confirms the details.

Why combine business visits with travel?

A showroom can show you a product. A conversation with its team can explain the decisions behind it. A market walk can reveal what customers compare, ask for and buy. The city around those encounters gives the business story a human scale. Shenzhen's official visitor reporting on Huaqiangbei describes exactly this overlap: overseas visitors come for technology and discover a lively public marketplace.

The most valuable trip is not the one with the most logos on its schedule. Give each business day one question to investigate: How is quality checked? What changes when a product reaches an international customer? Where does speed help, and where does it introduce risk? Ask the question in a formal meeting, then look for evidence in a public market or retail setting. End the day with a short debrief, not another transfer.

There is an emotional reason to plan this way, too. You may be spending company money, your own holiday time, or both. You want to return with something you can explain to colleagues and something you can share with the people who traveled with you. A quiet morning, an unhurried dinner and a walk through a neighborhood are part of the value, not filler between appointments.

A five-day Guangzhou and Shenzhen route

Use this as a shape for the trip, then set the dates around the confirmed business anchor. If your primary reason for travel is a trade fair, verify its current edition, product phase and buyer badge rules on the official Canton Fair site before booking accommodation.

Day 1: Arrive in Guangzhou and settle in

Keep the arrival day light. Check in, test your mobile data and payment method, and make the first evening a Cantonese meal near the hotel. If energy allows, take a short riverside or neighborhood walk. A good first night gives everyone room to land, sleep and begin the business conversation with a clear head. Our Guangzhou airport guide helps choose the transfer before arrival.

Day 2: One business anchor, one local evening

Make one company conversation the anchor: a supplier meeting, an agreed showroom or production visit, or an industry exchange arranged around your questions. We can use our domestic contacts to approach a suitable host, align the purpose and attendees, and coordinate interpretation and local transfers. Before the visit, we agree with the host on the agenda, technical terms, photography limits and what samples or follow-up documents may be shared. If your dates coincide with the Canton Fair, a focused fair session can be another business anchor.

Afterward, leave space to write down what changed your mind. Then shift pace: explore Liwan or another compact old-city area and sit down for a meal that introduces Guangzhou beyond the fairgrounds. The dim sum guide is a useful starting point for a food-focused morning or evening plan. Do not schedule another cross-city meeting simply because the calendar looks empty.

Day 3: Follow the question, then enjoy the answer

We can coordinate a second host when it adds a different perspective. A sourcing group might compare two suppliers with different production approaches; a leadership team might speak with a distributor, designer or local operator. We arrange the introductions and confirm the visit scope before presenting the final schedule. When a requested host cannot receive visitors, we propose another relevant contact or an openly accessible industry venue and explain how the learning objective changes. A public exhibition is useful context, not supplier due diligence.

If the business route points toward Foshan or Shunde, let the afternoon become a slower food and craft outing instead of racing back for another presentation. See our Shunde day-trip guide for the travel pieces to check. If meetings stay in Guangzhou, keep the cultural plan in the same part of the city. The best evening is the one your group still has energy to enjoy.

Day 4: From Guangzhou to Shenzhen, then into the market

Travel to Shenzhen with a realistic station-to-station buffer. Book the train using the same passport you will carry: China Railway's official FAQ explains identity requirements for foreign-passport travelers. Check the exact departure and arrival stations before choosing the hotel or scheduling a meeting.

Spend the afternoon at Huaqiangbei, a public electronics district where products, components, buyers and curiosity share the same streets. Shenzhen's government describes it as a major technology marketplace and now provides visitor routes for international shoppers. Go with a question, not a shopping quota: Which product ideas seem ready for export? What does a seller ask when someone wants to buy in quantity? Record observations, but ask before photographing people or stalls.

For contrast, finish by the water in Shekou. Our Shekou walking route keeps the evening flexible: an easy waterfront stretch, dinner and a chance to talk about what surprised you.

Day 5: Close the loop before departure

Hold a final, prearranged Shenzhen meeting only if it answers a question left open by the first four days. Otherwise, use the morning to compare notes, request missing specifications or introductions, and agree on who will follow up after returning home. A useful departure note has three columns: what we observed, what we still need to verify, and who owns the next step. Leave generous time for luggage, airport or border travel, and the actual departure point.

How we turn introductions into useful visits

We begin with your decision, sector and target questions. Our team identifies suitable domestic contacts, approaches the host, and works through the purpose, attendees, language support and time required. For each agreed visit, the written plan names the host, address, format, start and end time, permitted areas, photography policy and cancellation terms. A public showroom tour, a staff meeting, a live production visit and an executive discussion are different experiences; we describe the one that is actually confirmed.

Match the visit to the group. A buyer may need product specifications, sample handling and quality questions. A founder may care more about distribution and consumer behavior. A family member or partner traveling alongside them may prefer a lighter parallel city program rather than hours in a meeting room. Tell the planner about mobility needs, dietary restrictions and the amount of unstructured time you want. A good route respects everyone's reasons for coming.

Entry, logistics and realistic expectations

China has several entry routes. The National Immigration Administration's current unilateral visa-free list includes short business and tourism visits for eligible ordinary-passport holders, subject to its conditions. The separate 240-hour visa-free transit policy can also cover permitted business and travel activities, but requires a qualifying onward route and limits movement to designated areas. Neither is a blanket permission for every passport, activity or itinerary. Check the exact rule and any host requirements before buying nonrefundable tickets.

If the Canton Fair is part of the plan, its official year-round overseas buyer pre-registration can help you prepare for a future edition. Fair registration does not book a private factory visit. For everyday travel, set up a working mobile connection and more than one payment method before the first transfer; our China payment guide explains the choices.

Turn a business trip into your trip

Start with the decision you need to make, not a list of company logos. Tell us your sector, the questions you want answered, your group size, dates, language needs and what would make the trip personally rewarding. We will use that brief to approach suitable domestic contacts, coordinate the business conversations we can secure, and build the city experiences around the confirmed meeting times.

Use the trip planning form to request a tailored proposal. We will distinguish confirmed host appointments from introductions still in progress, and show transport, interpretation, meals, free time and any bookings you need to handle. The point is to come home with a better business judgment and a fuller sense of the people and places behind it.

Frequently asked questions

Can you arrange company meetings and visits?

Yes. We can coordinate introductions and visits through our domestic contacts when the sector, group and dates fit. We confirm each host's availability, attendees and access scope before naming it as a booked appointment. If you have a specific company in mind, tell us early so we can check whether that request is possible.

Is this useful if I am not buying from China?

Yes. A product leader, investor, designer or leadership team may want to understand customer behavior, service design or how an industry cluster works. The visit questions and host choices should reflect that purpose.

Can my partner or family join?

Often, yes, if the schedule and host rules allow it. Build a parallel cultural or food plan for meeting hours and shared experiences afterward. Confirm each private site's visitor rules before including non-business guests.

Editorial note: This is an original sample itinerary, not a report of a completed customer trip. Company hosts and meeting formats depend on the brief and written confirmation.
