Public transport
Check the current metro and airport bus map for a stop that genuinely serves your hotel. A direct-looking line may still require a transfer or a substantial walk with bags. Confirm service hours for your arrival day, especially after a delayed evening flight. Use the official transport operator's current timetable rather than an old travel article's fare or last-train claim.
Taxi and ride-hailing
Follow terminal signs to the designated taxi queue or app pickup area. Show the driver the Chinese hotel address and compare the vehicle details with your booking. For a group with several cases, check that the selected vehicle has enough luggage space. Agree on the meeting location and waiting policy in advance if someone is arranging a private pickup.
Ferry and rail connections
If heading to Gulangyu, identify the visitor departure pier on your booking. The ferry operator lists Dongdu Passenger Terminal as a main visitor departure point, but routes and departure arrangements change; confirm the current ticket and latest notices. Do not head automatically to the downtown ferry pier because it looks closer on a map. Leave a generous buffer after landing. For onward trains, distinguish Xiamen Station (厦门站) from Xiamen North (厦门北站), across the island-to-mainland corridor.
For the return, check flight terminal, ferry pier if relevant, traffic and the earliest service separately. A transfer that worked on arrival may not suit a dawn departure.
